June 25 to June 28 — Mi’kmaq Language Course
The Glooscap Heritage Centre will be hosting a four day Mi’kmaq Language course with linguist, Bernie Francis. This will be a great opportunity for Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal people to learn the Mi’kmaw language. Meals and tuition included. Cost: $300.00 per person.
June 19 — Wabanki People of the Dawn
The Glooscap Heritage Centre will have a viewing of the Wabanki People of the Dawn from 6pm - 7:30pm.
June 21 – National Aboriginal Day
The Glooscap Heritage Centre will be kicking off its fourth season with their celebrations of National Aboriginal Day on Sundday, June 21st. June 21 is celebrated as National Aboriginal Day across Canada as part of the Celebrate Canada program initiated by the Department of Canadian Heritage. Every Tuesday - Beading Demonstration
The Glooscap Heritage Centre will be hosting a beading demonstration every Tuesday in the summer from 2pm - 4pm.
Every Wednesday - Millbrook Family Day
Each Wednesday during the summer will be Millbrook Family Day (Free Admission To Millbrook residence) also on Wednesday’s there will be a Story Circle held from 2pm – 4pm.
Girl Guides and Scouts...
Visit the Glooscap Heritage Centre and learn about the Mi'kmaq. Program and tour meets criteria for Cultural/Aboriginal Awareness Badges. Tour will be lead by a Heritage Interpreter. Guides will learn about the Mi'kmaq culture, stories and celebrations. Cub Scouts will learn about inventions, the way of life and how the Mi'kmaq survived off the land.
When: Monday to Thursday evenings
Location: 65 Treaty Trail, Truro, Nova Scotia
Cost: $3.00 per child (one leader for every five children admitted free)
