The Glooscap Heritage Centre, the Art Gallery of NS, Nova Scotia's On-reserve Head Start Programs and First Nations and Inuit Health Atlantic Region partnered together with a number of phenomenal Maritime First Nation artists (Alan Syliboy, Dozay Christmas, Charles Doucette, and Marlene Joudrey to promote creative arts for young learners as an important vehicle for cultural learning.  Headstart Coordinators and teachers were in-serviced at the Art Galery of NS and given some resources to facilitate the visual arts at their schools.  Over a number of months they tried new art activities and sent samples to us to use in the book "Through Children's Eyes: An L'nu Resource for Exploring the Visual Arts."  A number of these works were framed and will be proudly exhibited throughout the month of February at the AGNS. 

Everyone is welcome to attend the Grand Opening of the exhibit February 9, 2012 at 6pm.  There will also be three other Exhibits opening the same night so there will be lots to see and it is FREE!

Joe Sylliboy will be hosting a hand drum making workshop, Feb 16, 2012. 6:30 - 9:00PM.
If you choose to paint your hand drum we will be offering a 2nd day the following week, Feb 23rd, 2012. 6:30 - 9:00PM
